Young Persons attendance at Wilde Realms Ltd events

16 or 17 year olds at Wilde Realms are referred to as “Young Persons” from here on out in Wilde Realms Ltd policy documents.

No attendee below the age of 16 is permitted at Wilde Realms Ltd events.

Young Persons are allowed to attend Wilde Realms Ltd events, but must have a signed parental consent form. Please note that Wilde Realms events contain horror themes which can include any of the following: Gore, Psychological horror, body horror and Dark fantasy themes. This might make Wilde Realms events inappropriate for some attendees based on disposition, but this warning is taken at the discretion of any attendee.

Please note that due to these horror themes, at any time the game organisers (referees) may deem an encounter or piece of content not suitable for a young person and restrict their access to it. We will attempt to ensure that this is made clear before any applicable encounter, but may also rule on this during a piece of content, as other players may influence the environment around them. This is part of our safeguarding commitment.

None of our events include any of the following content as per our rule book and code of conduct: Depictions of Sexual Assault, content of an explicit or sexual nature, Roleplay topics including Miscarriage/Mention of Abortions/Condemning Abortion, Abuse of Children, Racism relating to OC characteristics, Transphobia/Homophobia.

Live Action Role Play (LARP) is a combat sport with safe replica weapons. There is risk of injury as with any combat sport. Reasonable measures are made for safety such as teaching safe fighting, prohibiting head strikes, and regular checking of replica weapons to ensure they meet safety guidelines.

In the unlikely case of injury, Wilde Realms Ltd have First Aid trained volunteers on hand, who can administer reasonable medical treatment of the young person in the case of an emergency. Wilde Realms First Aiders will also pass this injury on to emergency services as and when required. If any emergency medical treatment is required for a Young Person at Wilde Realms events, Wilde Realms Ltd will attempt to make contact with the Guardian as soon as possible with updates where this is relevant.

Wilde Realms LTD often invites third-party photographers and media professionals to document the events, both for the enjoyment of the participants and for our own marketing and promotional use. It is likely that any attendee will be photographed over the course of an event, but all third-party photographers with Wilde Realms LTD have agreed in advance to our take-down policy. If you need to request that your Young Person is not photographed, or that a specific image of your Young Person is taken down, please contact us directly by email at wilde.realms@gmail.com . This is aligned with our adult Take-Down policy for multimedia.

Please note that alcohol may be present on our site where it is brought along by attendees who are of the legal drinking age. Wilde Realms LTD will never provide or sell any form of alcohol to any attendee regardless of age. Any Young Person is prohibited from consuming any alcoholic substance while on our site, in accordance with UK law, even in the presence of a Legal Guardian. If this rule is breached then that attendee, as well as any attendee who had knowledge of the fact and did not alert any Game Organiser (referee), will be removed from site. That young person will also then be banned from any future event held by Wilde Realms Ltd until they are legally an adult.

All Young Persons will be required to wear a provided wristband at all times to denote their age visibly. This enables us to enact safeguarding for Young Persons at a glance. Removing this wristband is prohibited, and if it becomes damaged you must approach the Games Organisation Desk as soon as possible to have it replaced.

Please note that a Legal Guardian must be available to collect the 16 or 17 year old at any time throughout our event in case of a breach of attendance guidelines detailed in either this document or our Core Rulebook, and this Legal Guardian must be listed as the emergency contact.

Young people may not volunteer at Wilde Realms Ltd in any capacity. This includes game organising (refereeing), crewing, assisting with catering, weapons checking, or participating in “Set-up/Takedown” teams.

All Young people must have a parental consent form signed prior to time in. This can be emailed to us via wilde.realms@gmail.com or presented at check-in. All signatures must be physically signed (we do not allow e-signatures in this circumstance). Wilde Realms Ltd may periodically check that a Guardian has signed this form and is aware of the above rulings. If it is found that the Guardian was not aware, the form would be deemed invalid. If no form is presented before “time in” (official commencement of the Event) the young person will not be permitted into the In-Character spaces.

Any safeguarding concerns regarding Young Persons at Wilde Realms must be immediately flagged to a Designated Safeguarding Lead (Thomas Briggs (known as Moss Briggs) and Arran Hopper.)
